Private Equity Internship/Apprenticeship

SPE Capital is a leading Private Equity firm with an African focus (mostly North Africa and increasingly Sub-Saharan Africa). SPE is led by a word-class team that started investing in the region in 2005 and brings together a set of complementary skills, on top of more than 100 years of combined investment experience. 

The team benefits from professional backgrounds developed in some of the most renowned global institutions (J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, BCG, Wendel, etc.) and educational backgrounds from some of the most prestigious universities and MBAs (Harvard, MIT, Polytechnique, Mines de Paris, AUC, Chicago Booth MBA, INSEAD, etc.)

We are looking for a highly motivated, driven and autonomous intern/ apprentice to be part of our global Private Equity team. The position would be based either in Tunis, Casablanca or Cairo.

This internship/apprenticeship experience will provide an excellent platform from which to launch a career in private equity, and the opportunity to gain specific region exposure. It will offer a broad experience and the ability to assess investment opportunities across several industries, in addition to participating first-hand in the management of SPE Capital's current investment portfolio.

Assignment duration:6 months internship (duration TBD for apprenticeship contracts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the team in (i) the assessment of investment opportunities, and (ii) portfolio companies monitoring
  • Conduct market research, business due diligence and analysis
  • Prepare financial models, including business plans, valuation models (DCF, multiples, LBO, etc.) and returns models, to support transaction execution
  • Assist with the preparation of various notes and reports such as qualification notes, investment memorandum, portfolio review notes and marketing documents

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Student at a Tier 1 / leading business or engineering school (MBA students are also welcome to apply)
  • Sound business judgment and high commercial understanding
  • Strong finance knowledge, analytical capabilities, capacity for synthesis, modeling, and presentation skills
  • Self-starter mentality, high degree of autonomy and entrepreneurial mind
  • Interest for and willingness to work in the region
  • Experience within the investment banking / private equity / management consulting field is a plus
  • Fluency in English and French required, knowledge of Arabic is preferred
